As the seasons change, so do the challenges of keeping a clear pond. Most pond and lake bacteria cease working at temperatures below 50°F to 55°F. During the autumn and winter there is extreme nutrient loading in the pond as trees and plants in and around the pond are dropping organic material into the pond. Very often the water remains green and cloudy over winter. By spring, the water is saturated by excessive nutrients which are just waiting for sunlight to either turn your water green or produce blanket weed.
A new Hydra product, exclusive marketed in the United States by Pond Clear Products, addresses the lack of autumn and wintertime bacteria issue head on. Hydra LT Extreme Bacteria (psychropilic bacteria) are specially blended and tested to produce maximum results during colder temperatures. As a result, digestion of organic matter that has settled in your pond during autumn occurs over the winter months; by springtime, the nutrients usually available to jump start algae and blanket weed growth are greatly reduced.
